Funeral service for Laura Jane Jones will be 1 p.m., Wed., May 21, at Chelsea Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-5 p.m.
Laura passed away Fri., May 16, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital South, Tulsa, at the age of 57.
The daughter of Milton Lee and Pauline (Tickeater) McMahan was born Jan. 24, 1957, in Wichita, KS. When Laura was 2 years old the family moved to Chelsea. Laura played guard for the Chelsea High School basketball team and helped her team when they competed in the state championships. As a child, Laura attended the First Baptist Church. On Oct. 3, 1980, Laura married Johnny Jones in Miami. Laura worked several jobs throughout the years. She worked at the Allred Theater in Pryor as a manager, Dollar General Store in Pryor as a manager, and Bill’s Dollar Store in Chelsea as a 3rd key holder. The job she enjoyed most was her work as the head housekeeper for Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Chelsea. Laura and her sister, Tammy, were always together. They enjoyed shopping together and going to the casino. Laura also enjoyed jewelry making, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren, and coloring pictures. She also looked forward to watching her son, Jesse, race stock cars, and watching her children and grandchildren play sports.
Laura was preceded in death by her husbad, Johnny Jones in 2003; and her parents.
She is survived by her children: Rick McMahan and wife, Vickie of Hulbert, Jesse James and wife, Christy of Chelsea, and Joshua James of Chelsea; siblings: Tammy McMahan and husband, Howard Hopkins of Chelsea, and Robert Markle of Chelsea; grandchildren: Brandon Leland, Jeffery Leland, Savannah McMahan, Cheyenne McMahan, Johnathon Mitchell, Kyle James and wife, Bree, J.T. James, and Aiden James; great-grandchildren: Emma, Treyton, and Brentley Mitchell, and Kaydance and Kaylynn James; niece, Tina Guthrie; nephews: Steven Sims and fiancé, Paige Elliot, and Matthew McMahan and fiance, Tabatha; great-nephews and great-nieces: Aivyn, Lily, Sierra, Jacklyn, Ashley, Kyle, and Jordan; and numerous extended family members.
