Funeral service for Lawrence D. Eddy will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Claremore Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Garden. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home.
Lawrence Eddy passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home with loved ones beside him. He was 81 years old.
He was born on May 4, 1937 in Tiawah to Mavis & Dewey Eddy. He grew up on the family farm attending grade school in Tiawah and graduating from Inola High School in 1955.
Lawrence married Betty Brunson in 1957 and they were blessed with two children, Margaret and Max. He formed his own company, Eddy Construction. With his masonry and construction skills, he built his own home and supported his family. He also served on the Rogers County Board of Adjustments for several years.
He was a devoted member of the Church of God, 7th Day where he served in many roles from Sabath school teacher to speaking in the absence of their minister. He served on the local board as well as the district board of church leadership. He spent many, many hours working on and improving his beloved church camp in Dover, OK. He spent much time visiting the sick and sharing Biblical teachings. His creed was God first, family second followed by service to his community of family and friends.
In his free time, he enjoyed rebuilding a couple of old cars and doing wood working. His vacations were spent visiting friends and family across the country. In his later years he enjoyed his RV and having fun with the Four Season Good Sam club.
On October 14, 2006 he married Betty “Sue” St. Clair and gained 3 more children- Aaron, Angie and Lori. He took them to his heart as his own.
He is preceded in death by his son Max and his parents Mavis & Dewey.
He is survived by his wife Betty “Sue” of the home, children Margaret, Aaron, Angie and Lori, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also, his sisters Twila Graves, Alma Janine Whorton and Judy Jones and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.
