Lawrence died Thurs., June 30, 2011, at his home at the age of 87.
The son of Earl and May (Wood) Losey was born August 19, 1923, in Rolla, Kansas. As a young boy he and his family moved to northeast Oklahoma. First settling in the Welch area, and a short time later moving to rural Claremore. He attended Harmony Star and Tiawah schools. As he grew older Lawrence began helping his father run the family farm. Lawrence and Mildred A. Evans were married September 3, 1942 in Claremore. A short time after their marriage, Lawrence was called to serve his country. He served in the 782nd tank battalion during World War II. Upon his discharge from the service Lawrence and Mildred returned to Claremore. For the next several years he worked hard to care for his family. He worked for McDonnell-Douglas, and worked during his off time as a trim carpenter. However serving as pastor at many churches in Northeast Oklahoma for over 40 years was his enjoyment. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything else he could do outside.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herbert Losey; and sister, Dorothy Valk.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred of the home; son, Vernon Losey and wife, Carolyn of Claremore; daughters, Linda Cordray and husband, Everett of Madisonville, Texas, Donna Posey and husband, Jerry of Claremore, and Kathy Peck and husband, Albert of Ponca City; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Goins.
