Funeral service for Lela O. Ketts will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 7, at Eden Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at Eden Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the church 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Lela was born on March 12, 1913 in Freck, Arkansas, to John C. Harris and Minnie (Letterman) Harris. She passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Inola Health Care Center at the age of 100, just two days after the love of her life, David Ketts, passed away on Nov. 4.
Lela moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma with her family at an early age. She graduated from Vera High School, Vera, Oklahoma and worked for Shell Oil Company in Tulsa and then for the Frank W. Murphy Manufacturing Company in Tulsa where she met her future husband, David C. Ketts, of Inola, Oklahoma.
She worked for the Frank W. Murphy Co. for approximately 18 years when she married David C. Ketts on May 8, 1976 and retired. She returned to work part time for a few more years before retiring again.
They had a very good married life for many years and enjoyed a considerable amount of traveling over the years, as well as their time together on the farm, their good neighbors, and being faithful attendees at the Eden Mennonite Church where we were married.
Lela was one of a family of five girls and three boys, all who are deceased, as are her parents.
