Born November 6, 1936 to Charles and Ruth Sarvies Dawes in Bristow, Oklahoma. Les was raised in the Tulsa area and was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Rogers High School. After their marriage they moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked as a general contractor. He later opened his own contracting company, All American Builders. After returning to Oklahoma, he worked for Oklahoma Fixture Company and coached the company baseball team. They moved to Claremore where he began helping his father-in-law in the extermination business, eventually owning the business, Farris-Ault Exterminators.
In his spare time, Les loved to travel. Many times he and his family went to mine for gold at a family owned gold mine. More recently he loved volunteering as a train conductor at Dry Gulch.
