Leslie Leeland Mathews

March 31, 1960 — April 27, 2014

Funeral service for Leslie Leeland Mathews will be 11 a.m., Fri., May 2, at the River of Life Assembly of God with Pastor Chad Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m. and family will greet friends 5-7 p.m.

Leslie passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his home at the age of 54.

The son of Ed and Dorothy (Campbell) Mathews was born March 31, 1960, in Ft. Collins, CO. He moved to Inola as a young child where he grew up and attended school. He was a talented lineman nicknamed, “The Bulldog”. He graduated from Inola High School in 1978. After high school he went to work for Sherwood Construction Company. He later went to work for Kiewit Construction Company where he worked for the past 20 years. Leslie enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and mowing his yard. He also enjoyed collecting cookie jars and antiques. Most of all he looked forward to the time he spent with family at their get-togethers throughout the year.

Leslie is survived by his children: Stephanie Romero and husband, Jason Ward of Peggs, Tina Mathews of Catoosa, Jordan Martin of Inola, and Amy Mathews and fiancé, Keith Cockrell of Van Buren, AR; siblings: Gerald Mathews and wife, Cathy of Inola, Bruce Mathews and wife, Aileen of Owasso, Doris Yocham of Inola, Lola Mayberry and husband, Howard of Inola, Vern Mathews of Ft. Collins, CO, and Larry Mathews of Ft. Collins, CO; and granddaughter, Allison Romero of Peggs.
