Lessie Mae Turley

Lessie Mae Turley went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2013 following a brief illness at the age of 93.

She was born to Jacob and Mable Yant on November 5, 1919 in Delaware, Oklahoma. Most of her childhood was spent in Alluwe, Oklahoma before moving to Chelsea, Oklahoma where she graduated high school in 1937. She married Milven Turley on November 6, 1937 in Nowata, OK. After World War II, they lived in various towns in Oklahoma where Milven worked in the oil fields, mostly Seminole and Cushing. After his retirement in 1976, they moved to Claremore. Because of an injury to her daughter Niki in 2010, she moved to Bixby to be cared for by her niece and to be closer to her daughter. Her hobbies include reading, and playing bridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milven, and sister Mary Eileen Strickland .

She is survived by daughter, Niki Cain, Tulsa, granddaughter Stephanie Birdsong and husband Westin and great grandchildren Tatum and William. She is also survived by her nieces Deborah Morris (Jerry) of Bixby , Renee Marlow (Pat Waddel) of Tulsa and nephew David Hosey (Pattye)of Wagoner. She is survived by Brother-in-Law Jerald Turley and wife Anita of Sand Springs. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service for Lessie Mae Turley will be held 2:00 p.m. August 15, 2013 at the Chelsea Cemetery. Rev. Richard Billings will officiate.
