Funeral service for Lois June Adair Joseph will be 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 18, at the Chelsea Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Billings officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 5 -6 p.m.
Lois died Sat., Jan. 14, 2012, at North Park Nursing Home, McKinney, TX, at the age of 85.
The daughter of Eldridge and Fern (Ketchum) Adair was born June 21, 1926, in the Winganon community. She attended school at Alluwe High School, graduating in 1944. Lois went to work at the powder plant in Pryor during World War II. On Sept. 28, 1946, she married Harold Joseph in Columbus, KS. They made their home in South Coffeyville, OK, and then Coffeyville, KS. Lois worked at Pig in the Pen Cafe in Chelsea, as well as Newberry's Department Store for 10 years where she was very popular. Everyone wanted her to wait on them, and enjoyed her fountain drinks called Limerikki. She later worked at Western Publishing Co, retiring in 1991 after 13 years of service. After Harold passed away, Lois moved to Chelsea, and later to McKinney, TX. Lois enjoyed bowling, traveling, handwork, crafts, and crocheting many beautiful quilts. She loved to work in her yard, and watch the birds at the feeders.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter, Mary Schafer; her parents; and brothers: Cotton Adair and Kenneth "Whimp" Adair.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Cindy Gross, Bryan Gross; great-grandchildren: Bailey Brown, and Mary Ann Gross; brother, Bill Adair and wife, Rosa; sister, Mary Hanna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
