Lois Jean Hendrickson Larkin entered Heaven on Saturday, July 27, 2024. She was 98 years old.
Born at Skiatook, Oklahoma in 1926 to Walter B. and Laura Goins Hendrickson, she was the 5th of 6 children. Lois met the love of her life, William C. Larkin, at Skiatook High School. They were married shortly after Bill returned from WWII on January 19, 1946. Living in Skiatook, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa, Lois and Bill made their final home in Claremore in 1963.
Throughout her life, Lois enjoyed caring for her family, working in accounting, spending time with her sisters and extended family, traveling, participating in church activities, cooking, baking, and shopping. On their small farm, Lois took delight in the many animals raised by the family throughout the years, especially the dogs. Always an independent spirit, Lois happily maintained their home and family while Bill traveled the country as a truck driver.
Lois worked many years as a bookkeeper in the trucking industry before retiring. However, retirement did not last long, and she returned to work with Lektron for several years.
Family was important to Lois and the delicious meals she prepared demonstrated that love greatly. While Lois suffered a debilitating stroke in 2002, she did not allow that to diminish her fortitude and resumed many of her activities despite a loss of mobility. She and Bill cared for each other in their home until his passing in 2018. Lois continued to live on her own before moving to Courtyards Assisted Living in 2022.
Lois is survived by loving son, Larry and Cherl Larkin; devoted daughter, Susan and Dwight Craig; grandchildren Lauri and Scottie Titsworth, Christi and Brett Hendrix, Justin Smith; Matthew and Melissa Smith; great-grandchildren, Edie, Dorie, Eric, Braden, Camden, Corbyn, Skylar, and Tayvn; great great-grandchildren Lynleigh and Levi; sister Billie Jo Hendrickson. Lois left a tremendous legacy and will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to the Courtyard Staff for loving Lois so well.
Those who wish to honor Lois memory may make a memorial contribution to Changing Lanes Ministries, a ministry that is ran by her grandson, 9810 East 42nd Street, Suite 220, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74146.
