Services for Lois Whorton will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 15, from 1—8 with family receiving visitors from 5—8. Lois passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the age of 82.
Born on January 22, 1932 in Pryor, Oklahoma to William Mack Neal Clayton and Martha (Jones) Clayton, Lois was reared and educated in her birth community, graduating from Pryor High School with the class of 1950. On September 30, 1950 Lois married Fay Alvin Whorton and the couple made their home in the Verdigris area.
A stay at home mother, Lois made sure her family was well taken care of. She enjoyed many hobbies which included sewing, embroidering, gardening and cooking. An active leader of the 4-H Club, Lois nurtured many children through the years. She loved hosting Christmas Eve and New Years Eve at her home with her family.
A kind and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Lois is survived by her children Lois Jean Giesecke and husband Robert of Locust Grove, Deborah Lynne Heath and husband Donnie of Richland, Texas and John Alvin Whorton and wife Ethelyn of Claremore; grandchildren Bryan Giesecke, Jennifer Brown and Michael Giesecke; great grandchildren Braden Giesecke and Eliana Brown and brother Claude Clayton of Pryor. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fay, infant grandson Caleb, older brothers and three sisters.
