Lola Jean Rogers was born February 25, 1929 in Grove to Thomas Ambrose and May (Caudill) Wright. She attended school at Grove schools and then Chilocco Indian School. Lola became ill and stayed at a TB Sanitarium in California. She married Ellis Thompson and this union was blessed with 3 children. The couple made several different states home with TSGT Thompson's Air Force duties in California, Nebraska and Arkansas to name a few. Lola worked for Dillard's and McClellan's before beginning a career with Wal-Mart. She was one of the first ones to open the Claremore Wal-Mart. She retired there in 1989 after 19 years of service. In 1995 Lola married L.G. Rogers and the couple made their home in Claremore.
The matriarch of her family, Lola was the one they came to when help was needed. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were most important and they were recipients of her loving and caring nature. Lola and L.G. enjoyed traveling the country and visiting the casinos. She also loved a good game of cards, which she played for keeps. Lola always had a smile on her face, treated you like family, and made sure you didn't go away hungry. Her wit was also unique.
A loving mother, grandmother and friend, Lola will be missed by all who knew her. Those family members who survive include her children Donna Marie Thompson and Debra J. King and husband Butch all of Claremore; grandchildren Cathy J. Grissett and husband Mike also of Claremore, Connie M. Pollock and husband SGT Timothy Pollock of Owasso, SSG Brian E. King of Fort Huachuca, AZ; great grandchildren Embrosia Echo Mae King of Claremore, Justin Garrett O'Connell of Owasso; special nephew Ace Wright and wife Ireliene of Grove and nephew Michael Sokoloff and wife Cindi and step-great-grandsons James, Kurtis and Matthew Pollock. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, husband L.G, brothers Abraham, Ace Sr., Chuck, Jimmy and Charles and sisters Opal, Ella and Marjorie.
