Loretta Jean Burrows

Memorial service for Loretta Jean Burrows will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the First Christian Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m
Loretta passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the age of 84.
The daughter of C.W. and Jewel Tyrone Hill was born March 12, 1931 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. As a young girl she and her family moved to Claremore. There her mother remarried to Lawrence Buford, whom she considered her father. She was very active in dance and music as a young girl, participating in many concerts and competition. In 1948 She graduated from Claremore High School. Wanting to continue her education she enrolled in Draughn's Business College. After graduating she began working for Shell Oil. However her working career was short lived. On June 29, 1952 she married her longtime sweetheart John Harvey Burrows. For a short time they lived in Tyler, Texas where John Harvey worked for a local oil company. They then decided to return home to Claremore. They rented a little home behind the Belvidere known as the Sugar Bowl. Her primary concern at this time was her family. She took pride that she was able to serve as den mother, and be active in the PTA. Other clubs she participated in were the Bridge Club and the Aladdin Club. In her spare time she loved gardening, playing cards and of course singing and dancing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Lawrence Buford, and husband John Harvey Burrows.
Survivors include her children: Dave Burrows and wife, Cindy and Beth Fletcher and husband, Wayne; granddaughters: Sarah Barry and husband, Jordan, Abby Fletcher, Kory Coots and husband, Jerrad, and Kara Burrows; and great-granddaughters: Catherine Mae, Kohen, and Vanna.
