Funeral service for Louanna Downing will be 11 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cochran Cemetery, Kansas, OK. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Louanna passed away Fri., March 4, 2016, at her home at the age of 71.
The daughter of Tom Russell and Marie (Chewie) Russell was born April 23, 1944, in Colcord. Louanna graduated from Chilocco Indian School. She was very involved in academics, graduating at the early age of 16. She married Robert Earl Downing and they made their home in Tulsa. Louanna attended vo-tech for floral design; and enjoyed catering and making floral designs for many weddings and events with her close friend. In 1991, she received her dietary certificate and went to work at Owasso Baptist Retirement Home. Louanna enjoyed making crafts and flower arrangements. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening.
Louanna was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild, Caleb Clackler; and siblings: David Russell, Wayne Russell, and Ella Mae Barrett.
She is survived by her children: Jacqueline Strong and husband, Robert of Jennings, and Robert Gene Downing of Tulsa; siblings: Dana Russell of Bartlesville, Jack Russell and wife, Peggy of Bull Hollow, Anita Ewing and husband, Larry of Tulsa, and Vicki Dozhier and husband, Randall of Gore; grandchildren: Amber Downing, Makayla Clackler, Blaine Strong, Canaan Clackler, Ben Clackler, Crystal Clackler, Andrew Clackler, and Alivya Strong; and great-grandson, Elijah Downing.
