Funeral service for Lowell J. Lutz will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ray Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral homeThursday 1-8 p.m. and family will greet friends 5-7 p.m.
Lowell passed away Fri., Sept. 27, 2013, at the Clarehouse, Tulsa, at the age of 76.
The son of Earl Henry and Jessie Gertrude (Willhoite) Lutz was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Tiawah. Lowell attended school in Tiawah, Claremore, and Inola. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and retired after 20 years of service. On Sept. 16, 1953, Lowell married Joyce Yvonne Sumter in Wichita Falls, TX. They made their home in many cities throughout the U.S. before settling in Claremore in 1977. Lowell retired from R.S.U. after 20 years of service; and he also owned and operated Lutz and Sons Heating and Air business in Claremore until he retired. Lowell enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, shooting guns, playing backgammon, and playing cards.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his parents; and brothers: Glen E., Dowell A., and Carl R. Lutz.
Survivors include his children: Deborah J. Rubner and husband, James of Sumner, IA, Peggy S. Sanders of Asher, Nancy L. Smith and husband, Timothy of Chelsea, and Anthony M. Lutz and wife, DeAnna of Broken Arrow; grandchildren: Robert Rubner and wife, Tammy, Jodi Rubner, Jennifer Dralle and husband, Jermey, Melinda Wheatley and husband, Roy, Ashleigh Sanders, Natasha Smith, Josh Smith, William Smith, Nichole Lutz, Jonathan Rogers, and Zachariah Rogers; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
