Graveside service for Lucy Hefner will be 10:00a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Dawes Cemetery, Bob Hefner will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, August 1 from 1pm--8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm--8pm. Lucy passed away at St. John Hospital on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. She was 94.;
Born on December 12, 1921 in Alluwe, Oklahoma to Isaac N. and Lottie Pearl (Fields) Ward, Lucy attended school at Chelsea and later Foyil. On November 17, 1936 she married Glen U. Hefner and the couple made their home in the Chelsea area and raised 8 children.
Lucy was a wonderful mother and made sure her kids were well taken care of. She was a great seamstress and made a lot of their clothing. She could look at a pattern at the store and go home and make her own. The holidays were most enjoyable to Lucy, she enjoyed having her family all together. When she had spare time Lucy kept her mind sharp working cross-word or word search puzzles. She also loved to read.
Survivors include her children Carol Juanita Conrad of Muldrow, Glenna Jean Hefner, George Allen Hefner and wife Arlene, Danny Wayne Hefner, Shirley Dian Steidley, Rhonda Kay Hefner and Kathy Renee Adair all of Chelsea; 22 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Carolyn Hefner of Chelsea and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, her son Carl Hefner, grandchildren Samantha Marsh, Vernon Hefner, Terry Hefner, James Brown, Jr. and Shelly Gail Hefner, daughter-in-law Sue Hefner; her sisters Doris M. Payne, Lorene Henderson and Meram Linn, her brother Noel Ward.
