Memorial service for Luther Jackson "Lou" Peterman will be 10 a.m., Thurs., May 23, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel.
Lou passed away Mon., May 20, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital Claremore at the age of 70.
The son of Ira and Julia (Taunton) Peterman was born September 7, 1942, in Portsmouth, VA. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In 1980, Lou moved from Iowa to Oklahoma. On Oct. 9, 1999, Lou married Marilyn King in Eureka Springs, AR. They made their home in Tulsa before moving to Claremore in 2010. Lou was a a truck driver with KCB Enterprise, a hot shot delivery service. He retired in 2008. Lou enjoyed playing guitar with his friends. He was a musician and songwriter, writing over 100 songs, and recording two albums. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. People loved being around Lou. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing; and was a good southern cook.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Shawn King; and sisters: Judy Springston, Joyce Lee, and Janette Howe.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Dennis King Peterman of the home; children: Shawn Peterman of Dothan, AL, Tonya Dentlinger of Tulsa, Christopher William Peterman and wife, Shannon of Tulsa, and Kelly Peterman of Tulsa; step-son, Darren Eugene King of Utah; sister, Cynthia Byler and husband, Jim of San Diego; brother-in-law, Darrell Dennis and wife, Mary Ann; sister-in-law, Peggy Andre; uncle, Tommy Karr; and grandchildren: Abby, Ethan, Ben, Blake, Wyatt, Sarah, Joseph, Evan, and Aidan.
