Luther's courageous battle with cancer ended on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the age of 10.
The son of Destiny and Brandon Cooper was born July 18, 2006 in Claremore. He was raised in rural Rogers County area of Sequoyah. The country lifestyle became a natural fit for Luther. From a young age he started working in the yard helping his family pick up sticks on his John Deer tractor. Eventually he outgrew the tractor and was able to upgrade to a John Deer gator. That upgrade was exactly what he needed so he could have more room for his pet chicken to ride.
As Luther became older he became drawn to fishing, hunting, and anything else he could find that kept him outdoors. Camouflage became his new favorite color. Trips to the family farm in Coalgate took on a whole new meaning. At the age of 7 while hunting in Coalgate, Luther shot his first deer. It was a monster 11 point buck. Shot from his favorite spot on the farm, which he named the rock. The woods became his playground. However sometimes the playground fights back. Such as the time he feel out of the tree and broke his arm.
Other hobbies and past times Luther enjoyed included building lego's with his brother and dad. Playing video games and swimming, working puzzles with his papa E.C., and snuggling with his momma and nene.
Luther was many things to many different people. To some he was the cheerful classmate, who enjoyed making everyone smile. To others he was a caring friend and family member who was always there to help, and to all that knew him, he will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his great- grandmothers, Nina Howerton, Annabelle Rice and cousin Jacob Burrell.
Survivors include his parents, Destiny and Brandon Cooper of Claremore; siblings, Ethan and Kirstin Cooper of Locust Grove and sister, Courtney Prescott of Pryor; grandparents, Sheila Atchley and husband Sean of Claremore and William and Rhonda Rice of Locust Grove; great-grandparents, E.C. Howerton of Claremore, Clarence and Martha Odle from Pryor, and Cleaburn Rice from Pryor; great aunts and uncles; Sherri Ladd; Terri Burrell and husband Rick and Christal Joseph and husband David along with many other extended family.
