Graveside service for Malcolm Deane "Lew" Lewis will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Jay, Oklahoma. Lew passed away Tuesday morning, November 8, 2016 at the age of 79.
Born July 11, 1937 in Battle Creek, Iowa to Arthur Deane and Leona Ruth (Briggs) Lewis, Lew was reared and educated in Jeromesville, Ohio. Later he received his Master's Degree in computer systems and design. On November 29, 1957 Lew married Joyce Elaine Stake in a Jeromesville ceremony.
In 1958 Lew and Joyce moved to Southern California where Lew worked for many years in the computer industry. While living in California, Lew contributed much of his time to youth - acting as commissioner of the wide-ranging Antelope Valley Youth Football Association for several years. He also held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. Other hobbies included playing racquetball with his son and traveling with his family across the U.S. He was especially fond of and appreciative of our National Parks. In the 1990’s Lew and Joyce moved to Oklahoma. Lew was a member of the United Church of God in Tulsa.
Lew was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of their home in Claremore; children Kim Ann Lewis of Bigfork, Montana, Barbara Jeanne Lewis of Frazier Park, California, Sheron Ruth Lewis of Monkey Island, Oklahoma and David Malcolm Lewis and his wife, Elizabeth, of Claremore, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Anton Hernandez, Sophia Hernandez, Alexandra Lewis, Brittney Lewis, Aaron Lewis; great grandson Riddick Hernandez; and sister, Mary Joyce, and her husband, Craig "Scotty" Simpson, of Columbus, Ohio.
