Margaret Janell McKinney passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the age of 75.
The daughter of James Rufus and Myrtle Ross McClure was born November 18, 1939 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was raised there and graduated from Sallisaw High in 1958. Wanting to continue her education Margaret began attending business college in Tulsa. One day while down at the local drive-in she met Jimmie McKinney. They married February 9, 1962 in Tulsa. The next few months they lived in Tulsa, before moving to the Catoosa area. There she would later take a job working for the Catoosa Tag Agency. She loved her job and it showed, because she spent the next 27 years there. Margaret also loved to volunteer. It didn't matter if it was serving as girl scout leader or helping coordinate dinners at the church. She was always there when called upon. In her spare times she enjoyed reading, shopping, and traveling. She was also a great seamstress. Making quilts, curtains and clothes were just a few of her skills. However her true happiness came from her family and her church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Rufus McClure and Myrtle McClure, grandson Evan Barricks; and brother, Guy McClure.
Survivors include her husband Jim McKinney of the home; daughter, Lisa Barricks and husband Chris of Collinsville, son, Todd McKinney of Inola; granddaughters, Lauren and Allison Barricks of Collinsville; brother, James McClure of Broken Arrow; and sisters, Judy McClure of Tulsa and Mildred Callahan of Sallisaw.
