Margaret Belle Robertson

Graveside service for Margaret Robertson will be 11 a.m., Thursday, November 3, at Woodlawn Cemetery with Dr. Ray Crawford officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 5-6 p.m.

Margaret Belle (Helms) Robertson was born on May 24, 1928, in Commerce, OK, to Forrest and Cora Helms. She passed away on October 30, 2016, at the age of 88.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, sister Eula Mae Helms Britton, husband D. B. (Dory) Robertson, and son Stan Robertson. She is survived by her daughter Becky Robbins, daughter-in-law Johnnie Robertson, grandchildren Trey Robertson and wife Lynn, and Erin Robertson Bacon and husband Zach; and great-grandchildren Emma Kelley, Jack Robertson, and Jude and Harper Bacon.

Margaret attended school in Verdigris and Claremore. She married Dory Robertson on December 24, 1948, and was a wonderful mother to her two children, Stan Robertson and Becky Robertson Robbins.

Her professional career began at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville. After the war, she met her husband Dory while working for Randle-Munson Motor Company. When her children were older, Margaret was secretary to Principal McCormick at Claremore High School. In 1969 she became Claremore Mayor’s secretary and Assistant City Clerk. She decided to run for City Clerk in Claremore in 1975 and held that position until she retired in 1991.

Margaret’s favorite passion was her family. She loved them all and was so proud of each and every one. The whole family gathered on many Sundays at her house and enjoyed her home-cooked meals. Watching sports was her second favorite thing, especially the OSU Cowboys. She was always in front of the TV cheering them on.

In lieu of flowers donation in Margaret’s name may be made to Tulsa SPCA or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
