Graveside service for Margie Ellen Clanton Carver will be 2 p.m., Fri., May 31, at the Chelsea Funeral Home Chapel with Leon Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Fri. 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., and family will greet friends 1-2 p.m.
Margie died Mon., May 27, 2013, at the Claremore Nursing Home at the age of 89.
The daughter of Jesse Clarence and Velma Watt (Short) Clanton was born Dec. 28, 1923, near Chelsea, OK. She married Tom "Hap" Carver, Jr. on Nov. 2, 1947. He died Sept. 19, 1992.
Prior to her marriage to Hap, she was employed by McDonnell-Douglas in Tulsa, OK, wiring harnesses for airplanes. After their marriage, she and Hap farmed in Missouri and Oklahoma. They had resided on their farm near Adair, OK, since 1954, operating a dairy, and raising beef cattle, grain and hay.
Survivors include three children, Frances Black and husband, Leon of Marionville, MO, Mary Anders of Mt. Vernon, MO, and Tom Carver and wife, Patty of Adair, OK; three sisters, Ruth Carter and Mary Warren both of Claremore, OK, Jane Todd of Coweta, OK; one brother, Johnnie Clanton of Wann, OK; seven grandchildren, Laura Black-Johnson, David Black, Terri Williams, Brian Anders, Anna Campbell, Matt Carver, and Zach Carver; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hap, one sister, Vergie Fair, and one brother, Jimmie Clanton.
