Born November 7, 1928 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to John Otis and Katie (McHenry) Whitaker, Margie received her education in her birth community. She also attended college at Arkansas State for a few semesters. During WWII, Margie, like a lot women were needed to help in the work force so she worked for McDonnell Douglas building planes. On April 1, 1946 Margie married Elmer Lonzo McGuire in a Tulsa ceremony. The couple made their home in the Dawson area of Tulsa. In 1955 they bought a farm in Verdigris and this has been home since. This was a working farm, first a dairy and later a cattle ranch. Margie worked alongside her husband tending to the daily chores of farm living. She loved her family and they were her first priority. Margie did work for a time at H & R Block during the tax season, but her main focus was taking care of her family. She was their biggest cheerleader, going to all of their sporting events. Margie enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting and collecting precious moment figures. She was also dedicated to her church and was active in its many ministries. She taught her children and grandchildren her deep rooted faith in Jesus. Her grandchildren gave her much joy and she never turned down an opportunity to spend time with them. Never one to sit around, Margie loved to be on the go and traveling.
Her loving family that survive include her children Bill McGuire and wife Debo, Donna Michener and husband Gary all of Verdigris and Kristy Daugherty and husband Sean of O’Fallon, Missouri; her grandchildren Chris Farmer, Kelly Sullivan, Stacey McGuire, Billy McGuire, Gary Lee Michener, Katie Haight, Nikki Mitchell, Erin Daugherty and Ryan Daugherty; her great grandchildren Libby Michener, Addison Michener, Brynlee Michener, Keiton Michener, Liam Haight, Quinn Haight, Hayden Mitchell, Savannah Farmer, Patrick Farmer and Ava Farmer and her brother Johnny Whitaker and wife Jeannie of Tulsa. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, her son Elmer L. McGuire, Jr., her daughter Lynn Farmer and son-in-law Kip Farmer.
