Margie Marie Terry-Carmack gained her wings surrounded by her family singing "The Old Rugged Cross" on October 13, 2019, at the age of 77.
The daughter of Robert "Bob" and Mable "Irene" (Remington) Tatum was born March 1, 1942, in Nowata, Oklahoma. There she would spend her childhood and get her education. At the age of 17, she married Elmer Teel. Together, they had two children, Connie and Tommy. Over the next several years, Margie would live in several different places. Throughout their marriage, one place liked by so many of the family was Baumgarner's, which the family felt should have been renamed "Tatum Resort". She loved her family deeply and was close with all of her siblings. Many weekends you would find several of them going to the Nowata VFW dances.
Margie was proud to attend cosmetology school in Collinsville, and received her license in 1978. Though she never had a shop of her own, she spent many years working on friends' and family's hair.
Later in life, she married Tom Terry, and lived in Tulsa. It was there that she developed her personal relationship with God, and was baptized at Century Cathedral Church on August 21, 1994. She was a prominent member of her church, loving to sing in the choir. She always enjoyed having her family sitting in the pews.
Margie always loved to do yard work, and was very proud of her garden. She worked tirelessly, making beautiful flowerbeds. You could drive by and see her pushing the lawnmower in her 3" high wedge heel garden shoes.
After Tom's passing in 1998, Margie moved to Collinsville to be closer to her daughter. Margie loved to dance. It was in Skiatook at one of her favorite dancing spots that she met C.K. Carmack. They hit it off, and after many years of courtship, were married on March 18, 2004. The couple made their home in Claremore. Over the next many years, Margie and C.K. enjoyed several trips with family and friends. They traveled to places such as Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. The couple started attending Bethel Chapel, and she was again baptized on October 14, 2014. Her faith in God grew stronger as she spent many Sundays singing to the congregation, until the church closed. Margie and C.K. loved to dance, and you could find them out at the barn dance "Guns" most weekends.
Margie also loved to shop. She was always collecting glass crystal, and would go to estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, or junk stores, as C.K. called them, looking for antiques. She also loved visiting with people; she pretty much never met a stranger. She was very close to her siblings and saw at least one of them each week. Margie was a giver who would give you everything from advice to the favorite tea cup in her hutch.
Margie will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Her family has lost their queen, and she will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Irene Tatum, brother, Jay Tatum, and sister Yvonne Tatum.
Survivors include her husband, C.K. Carmack; children, Connie Lea Teel, and Thomas Wesley "Tommy" Teel; grandchildren Memori Robbins, Ella Malone, John "BJ" Malone, Thomas "TJ" Teel, JoeBob Teel, Samantha "Sammie" Teel, and Liberty Teel; Eighteen great-grandchildren, and siblings, Margaret Corley, Orie Tatum, Leon Tatum, Mary Sowder, Joyce Antrup, and Mike Tatum.
