Funeral service for Marian Phillips Baker will be 11 a.m., Tues., May 29, at Memorial Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Simpson officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Haskell Cemetery with Rev. Scott Phillips officiating. Services are under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 4-6 p.m.
Marian died Thurs., May 24, 2012, at the Claremore Nursing Home at the age of 89.
The daughter of Earl and JoAnna Alice (Wood) Phillips was born May 14, 1923, in Choska Bottom, OK. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1941. On Nov. 29, 1941, Marian married Seamon Dee Baker in Claremore. They made their home in Irving, TX, and she worked for Cooper Airmotive in Dallas, TX, retiring in 1976. She later moved back to Oklahoma after husband's passing. She was an excellent seamstress and made handmade dolls. She taught herself to to knit, crochet, and pieced quilts for her family among many other crafts. She was always willing to do whatever it took to help her family, including those that to her were considered family.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Seamon; her parents; sister, Flossella; and 4 infant brothers.
She is survived by her daughters: Doris King and husband, Fred, Mary Jo Reed and husband, David, Margaret Malzer and husband, Eric all of Texas; grandchildren: Rodney King, Shelly Lazzaro and husband, Nick, Dee Grubowski and husband, Myron, Amber Smith, Erica Malzer, Amanda Malzer, fiancee, Charles Hansen, David Paul Reed, Laura Steelman, Christina Wolff, and Angela Baxter; great-grandchildren: Daniel Steelman, Jeremiah Steelman, Mary Baxter, Sara Baxter, Grace Grubowski, Brittany Smith, Jessica Steelman, Nicolas Lazzaro, Alena Grubowski, Ted Reed, Jackie Steelman, Grace Lazzaro, Rose Grubowski, Wes Reed, Ben Reed, August Lazarro, Emily Wolff, Garrison Smith, Christopher Wolff; brothers: Harry Phillips and wife, Marie, Don Phillips and wife, Retha, Bob Phillips and wife, Sue, Bill Phillips and wife, Gale, Sam Phillips and wife, Nancy; sister, Arlene Wilson and husband, Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews.
