Maribeth Garrett, a beloved individual and an accomplished author, peacefully passed away on December 31, 2023, in Claremore. She was born on July 11, 1949, to her parents Roy T Garrett and Beatrice Garrett.
Educated within the Billings Public Schools system, Maribeth's thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education. She attended the University of Tulsa and Claremore Jr College. Throughout her life, Maribeth exhibited a passion for learning and self-improvement.
Maribeth made significant contributions to the literary world as a published author. Her written works touched the lives of countless readers and will continue to inspire generations to come. Beyond her writing career, she also dedicated several years of service at Pizza Hut until her well-earned retirement.
As an adventurous spirit with a love for exploration, Maribeth enjoyed traveling extensively throughout her lifetime. One of her most cherished memories was a trip to Europe alongside her dear friend Raylene. Her experiences abroad broadened her perspective on life and provided inspiration for her writing.
Aside from travel, Maribeth had various interests and hobbies that brought joy into her life. She was an avid reader who immersed herself in the fictional worlds created by talented authors. Additionally, she found great delight in cheering on sports teams such as the OKC Thunder and the OU Sooners. However, nothing brought Maribeth more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren and beloved pets.
She preceded in death by her parents Roy T Garrett and Beatrice Garrett. Maribeth grew up alongside her brothers Bill Garrett, Leon Garrett, Roy Garrett, and her sisters Norma Stolabarger, Donna Wills, Sally Prillman, and Cherlynn Garrett.
Survived by her loving son Robert Killian, daughter Rachel Timms, sister Susan Adams, grandchildren Jonathan Smith, Joshua Timms, Brett Timms, as well as eight great-grandchildren; Maribeth formed deep connections with those closest to her. Her family and friends will forever hold cherished memories of her kind-heartedness, unwavering support, and unconditional love.
A visitation service in honor of Maribeth Garrett will be held on January 8, 2024, at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home and Cremation Services—Claremore. The visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, providing an opportunity for loved ones to pay their respects and share fond memories.
Maribeth Garrett's passion for life, dedication to her craft, and genuine warmth touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy as an accomplished author and a caring individual will live on in the hearts of those she left behind. May her soul find eternal peace as we celebrate a life well-lived.
