Funeral service for Bertha "Marie" Cross will be 10a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mike Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 1p.m.--8 p.m., at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m.--8p.m.
Marie passed away Sun., March 29, 2015, at Wood Manor at the age of 91.
The daughter of Francis Xavier Hayes and Bertha A. (Breiner) Hayes was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Lyndhurst, NJ. Marie attended schools in her birth community. Following her graduation, she married Francis Marion Baldridge. Mr. Baldridge passed away in 1968. Later she married Clyde David Cross, he passed away in July of 2010. Marie worked at Renbergs Department Store in Tulsa for many years. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. Marie's hobbies were varied and included gardening, antiquing and fishing. In her younger years she loved to dance and even performed on stage with Shirley Temple. She also met Frank Sinatra as a young woman.
She is preceded in death by her husbands: Francis Marion Baldridge and Clyde David Cross; her parents; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and 1 great-grandchild.
Survivors include her daughter, Dian M. Breshears and husband, Doyle of Claremore; step-children: Donna Roberts and husband, Ron of Tulsa, C. David Cross and wife, Cindy of Tulsa, and Lora Phillips and husband, Greg of Broken Arrow; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
