Marion Patterson Denny

Graveside service for Marion Patterson Denny will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3, at Oakhill Cemetery, Oologah, with Revs. Jim and Cyndi James officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory.

Marion died Sat., Aug. 28, 2010, at Inola Health Care Center at the age of 91.

Marion was born in New York City, NY, on Oct. 15, 1918, to Willard Arnold and Maizie W. (Mitchell) Patterson. Marion graduated from Palm Beach High School, and continued her education by receiving an Associates degree. After college she married Marvin Luther Denny on Oct. 7, 1944 in Tulsa where she worked as a secretary, retiring in 1971 when they began traveling in an RV, resettling in Tulsa years later. They enjoyed many weekends at Grand Lake and lived on the lake for a few years. Marion lived her later years in Inola with her daughter, Diane.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; brother, Willard A. Patterson; sister, Dorothy P. Peak; and step grandson, Charles Ehninger.

Marion is survived by her children: Willard L. "Bill" Denny and wife, Pamela J. of Broken Arrow; Diane Denny Wood and husband, Ronald W. of Inola; half-sister, Joan Patterson Sanford and husband, Bob of Jupiter, FL; step-children: Aileene Denny Oelkers and husband, Chuck of Pleasanton, TX; and Dr. Marvin L. Denny and wife, Norma Jean of El Reno; grandchildren: Matthew W. Wood and wife, Amy of Denver, CO; Christopher Robin Denny of Oakland, CA; and Amanda D. McKendry and husband, Patrick of Haskell; step-grandchildren: Diana Hindt, Laura Denny Kennedy, Rick Ehninger, Eric Ehninger, Bob Ehninger, David Ehninger, Marvin Lee Denny, and Christopher Denny; great-grandson: Treyson James Wood; and many step-great-grandchildren.
