Funeral service for Marjorie Joe "Margie" Cox will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery in Claremore. Viewing will be held prior to services from 11 am to 1 pm.
Marjorie was received in heaven by her savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
She was a resident of Claremore, Oklahoma for 27 years, but spent the last 6 years at Wood Manor Nursing Home. Marjorie was 79 years young. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Gene "Marley" Leonard, BG Leonard, Millard "Corky" Leonard, Jackie Leonard and her only sister Erma Smith.
Marjorie was the oldest daughter of Benny and Seddie A. (Gillihan) Leonard. She was born on July 17, 1932, in Tulsa. She spent most of her young life in Tulsa, until she later married James Lester Cox, Sr. on Thanksgiving Day 1950; their three children are Linda Hughes, Jim Cox and Marla (Evans) Moody.
She later moved to Claremore in the 1980's and was the supervisor of Environmental Services for Claremore Regional Hospital. Marjorie loved working and growing her flower gardens, enjoyed fishing her entire life, and painting freehand landscapes with water colors. Her greatest joy, other than her family and friends, was reading and studying the Word of God.
She is survived by her three children; daughter Linda and husband Larry Hughes of Chicago, daughter Marla (Evans) Moody of Berryhill, and son Jim and wife Beth Cox of Berryhill; grandchildren; Michael McPeters, Aimee McPeters, Joshua Stelter, Sarah Hughes, Alicia Wenzel, Kayla Evans, Kyle Shepard, and Jake Cox; great-grandchildren; Andrew McPeters, Nicholas Wheeler, Kaitlin Brown, and Jillian Wenzel. Brothers; Roger "Bud" Leonard of Claremore and George "Pee Wee" and wife Iris Leonard of Tulsa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
