Funeral service for Marjorie Dowden will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Vessel Church in Claremore. Pastor Jamie Willis will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Garden under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Crematory.
Marjorie Leona Dowden passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the age of 74.
The daughter of Nathan and Francis Luper Smith was born July 3, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas. As a young girl she grew up in the Childs Acres area of Kansas. There she would later attend Maize public schools. At the age of 14 she met and married Peter Beyersdorfer. The newly wed family made their home in Childs Acres, and began raising there family. Years later Marjorie and her children moved to Florida. Over the next several years Marjorie moved between Texas, and Kansas before moving to Oklahoma to be near her daughter in the late 1980's. There she began working for Texaco, running there service station. Eventually she was transferred to Claremore. There one afternoon she would meet Ronald Dowden, a local dump truck driver. They would marry on February 28, 2003. The next several years Marjorie and Ronald had many exciting adventures. Many of witch revolved some kind of garage or estate sale. It was a rare occurrence for them to pass a sale without stopping. Another hobbies she enjoyed was going to tractor pulls. Not only did she go to watch, but she loved to compete. She and her 1944 Massey Ferguson were always tough competition.
Marjorie was a good christian woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Many will miss the daily devotions that she would send out.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Francis Luper Smith; son, Bobby Dowden; sister, Barbara Permitter, grandchildren, Katrina Beyersdorfer, and Gary Martin, Garrett Martin and great-grandchild, Kennedy Shuey.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Dowden, children, Julie Dalton and husband Tommy, Vickie Beyersdorfer, Peter Beyersdorfer and wife Michelle Cole, Trisha Ford and Rhonda Dowden; grandchildren, Dallas, Jesse, Jeremy, Josiah, Tiffany, Trace, Terra, Tracy, Tacia, Hannah, Greg, Glenn, Garth, Ryan, Nick and Shae; siblings, Nathan Smith, and Mary Hannah, along with many other great-grandchildren, and extended family.
