Mark Alan Manuel, age 55, died at Clarehouse in Tulsa on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 after a long battle with chronic liver disease.
Born March 16, 1961, to Jimmy and Kathy Manuel, he lived in the Claremore area until graduating high school. Being very close to his grandparents, Finis and Marie Nelson, he spent much of his life during his school years living in their home. Upon graduation he moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for several years with his uncle Wayne Nelson. Not long after moving home to the Claymore area, he met the love of his life Vickie. They married and made their home in Alluwe. This country setting was ideal for Mark as he was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. It was during these years he took the opportunity to pass on his passion for the outdoors to his children and then grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing their experiences and was so proud to recount those with family and friends. Even in his last days he was eager to talk about his family. He loved talking about his vacation of a lifetime last year at the beach with his "Baby" Vickie that they extended unexpectedly because they enjoyed their time together so much.
Mark was preceded in death by beloved grandmother Marie Nelson and grandfather Finis Nelson, mother Kathy Roberts, and grandsons Mark Taylor and Robert Whitaker. He leaves behind wife Vickie of the home in Alluwe, children David Thornbrue, Joani Thornbrue, and Krista Elledge; grandchildren Dakota Thornbrue, Coltin Taylor, Charity Tatum, Michael Taylor, Donny Whitaker, Meagan Townsend, and Katie Townsend; great-grandchildren Faith, John, and Isaiah Tatum and Hadley Louise Taylor; stepfather Paul Roberts and wife Waunda of Foyil; sisters (whom he always affectionately called "Little Sis") and families Tama and Raymond Dudley of Claremore, Dayna and Brad Paillette of Marshfield, Missouri, and Paula and Brad Moore of Claremore, and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Alluwe Community Center at 2:00 PM.
