Funeral service for Mary Ann Casey will be 11 a.m., Fri., April 1, at Friendly Foyil Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Mary Ann passed away Sun., March 27, 2016, at her home at the age of 70.
The daughter of George Samuel Rader and Juanita (Mohon) Rader was born March 17, 1946, in Claremore. She attended school in Tahlequah and Foyil, graduating from Foyil High School in 1964. Mary Ann continued her education at NEO and NSU. She participated in the drum line in band and chorus throughout her school years. She taught in Locust Grove, Inola, and Tiawah. On July 16, 1970, she married Joe R. Casey in Wagoner. They moved to a small village in Aniak, Alaska in 1979, where Mary Ann served as the Elementary school prinicipal and taught school. On May 9, 1983, they adopted their daughter, Georgie. Mary Ann taught until 1996, when they moved back to Claremore. When she was able, Mary Ann substituted at Sequoyah schools. Mary Ann loved working in her yard, taking care of her flowers, making arts and crafts, sewing, and making clothing. She liked setting up booths at craft shows, and looking for antiques. She also enjoyed writing, playing piano, and baking, her meringue pies were her specialty.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Joe of Claremore; daughter, Georgie Casey of Claremore; sister-in-law, Thressa Rader of Claremore; sister, Mohona Casse of Claremore; and sisters-in-law: Jeannie Mohon and husband, Gene, and Maxine and husband, Kenneth.
She is preceded in death by her son, Steven Casey; brother, Bill Rader; her parents; and nephew, Rocky Ross.
