Mary Sue Gardner took her place with our Lord and Savior, Sunday January 22 surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family friends.
She was born April 18, 1936 in Locust Grove to Cullis and Myrtle England. In 1942 they moved to Claremore where Sue graduated from Claremore High School in 1955. Shortly afterwards, she attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, graduating with a Bachelors in Education; and later returning to receive her Masters in Education.
After spending several years teaching in California and Oregon, Sue and her children moved back to Oklahoma where she began teaching in the Claremore Public Schools. She taught for more than 40 years; her last tenor at Roosa Elementary where she loved her 3rd grade students. Retiring in 1995 only to return in 1996 for one year as another teacher needed medical leave. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels, was an avid reader and loved to play cards with family and friends.
Sue was proceeded in death by her parents; her siblings Mayes England, Wilma Patterson, Ethaline Denton, Kenny England and Gary England; sister in-law Yvonne England; brother in laws Ed Stepp, Don Ross, and Tom Patterson.
She is survived by her sister, Dr. Billie Ross, of Claremore; sister Lois Stepp of Tahlequah; her children Annette Webster of Claremore; Tanya Andrews and husband Steve, of Claremore; and Bryan Krouse and wife Marlania of Skiatook. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; they are Kris Toops of Sulphur, OK.; Johnathan Krouse of Claremore; Rebecca Krouse of Claremore; Warren Webster of Tulsa; and Audrey Webster of Claremore. Her great grandson Braxton and great granddaughter Kylee lit up the room whenever they were with her. Sue has numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews all in the area. She leaves behind her life long friends Linda and Stan McDaniel.
Mary Sue was loved by many, including her sisters in Christ Eloise Odom, LaJuana Wilson, Francis Jones and Sulene Craven.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 28 from 2pm to 4pm at 320 ON Main, 320 W. Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore.
