Born August 18, 1942 in Claremore to Raymond and Martha (Hendrix) Riley, Mary received her education first in Claremore, thru the 11th grade, then graduated from high school at Oologah. On December 28, 1962 she married Tom Karr in a Claremore ceremony. The couple made their home here in the Claremore area, together raising their family. Mary worked as a nurses aid at St. John Hospital and later in Claremore Hospital. She also worked as a cook with the Foyil Schools, retiring there in 2001.

Mary had several hobbies that included gardening, crocheting drawing and reading. She also loved square dancing, an interest she shared with Tom. Family came first in Mary's life and she took great care of them. Her extended family and friends were also recipients of her kind and caring love. The holidays were special to Mary, having her family around was most comforting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Holly Schumacher and her brother John Riley.
