Graveside service for Mary Kathryn Lewis will be held 11:00 a.m.Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Ward's Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Chelsea Funeral Home.
Mary Kathryn Lewis known to many as Kathy passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the age of 64.
The daughter of Charles Everette and Kathryn Conway Shelton was born November 4, 1950 in Hobart, Oklahoma. As a young girl she and her family moved to rural Claremore settling in the Sequoyah area. There she would begin attending school. It was also while attending Sequoyah that she met David Lewis. They married November 9, 1967 in Pryor. They made their home in the Verdigris area a short time before moving to Chelsea. Her priority at this time in her life was taking care of her children. She was always very thankful to be able to stay home with her two children. As her children grew up and began lives of their own, her time shifted to her grandchildren. Watching them play sports such as softball, baseball and football were just a few of the things that she enjoyed. Other hobbies included Hunting, fishing, camping, sewing ,quilting, crocheting, reading and bowling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathryn Shelton and brother Daniel Shelton.
Survivors include her husband, David Lewis of the home; daughter, Christi Nicols and husband Jason of Foyil; son, David "Tony" Lewis and companion Patty Williams of Oologah; grandchildren, Allena Nuchols and husband Randy, Jacob Miers, Dylan, Katelen and Ashtyn Nichols, David Derrick and Daniel Lewis; great-grandchildren, Stetson Lee and Kathryn "Lizzy" Nuchols; sister-in-law, Lavonne Shelton of Claremore; brothers, Don Shelton of Claremore, and Bill and Shelton and wife Marty of Claremore, and brother-in-law, Mike Lewis and wife Karen of Claremore.
