Mary Faye McDaniel

Funeral service for Mary Faye Simmons McDaniel will be 10 a.m., Sat., Sept. 3, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Dawes Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Fri. 4-8 p.m.

Mary died Wed., Aug. 31, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 79.

The daughter of Frankie J. and Kathryn Ione (Maggard) Downs was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Adair. Mary worked as a secretary for vocational rehabilitation with the State of Oklahoma. She retired in 1995. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church; and enjoyed crafts, singing, writing poetry, music, painting, and ceramics.

Mary is preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Simmons in 1989; her parents; sister, Beatrice Boren; and great-granddaughter, Ilah Marie Simmons.

She is survived by her husband, Charles R. McDaniel of the home; daughter, Carol J. Buckley of Claremore; son, Darrell Simmons and wife, Regina of Claremore; sisters: Marie Jantzen and husband, Bud of Claremore, Maxine Watt and husband, Harry of Tulsa, and Geraldine Sherwood of Miami; brother, Carl Downs and wife, Lena of Adair; and grandchildren: Brendon Buckley of North Carolina, Nick Simmons and wife, Hali of Edmond, Melanie Simmons of Claremore, and Rachel Faye Simmons of Claremore.
