Mary Jo Mitchell

Funeral service for Mary Jo Mitchell will be 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 12, at First Baptist Church, Chelsea, with Rev. Allen Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

Mary died Fri., Jan. 7, 2011, at OSU Medical Center, Tulsa, at the age of 86.

The daughter of Cecil and Mattie (Paris) Bains was born October 24, 1924, in Chelsea. Mary attended school in Chelsea to the 10th grade when she married George "Bud" Mitchell. They were married on Nov. 30, 1940. She worked all her life while raising 6 children. She retired from EE Sewing in 2010. Mary enjoyed all the sporting events her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were involved in. She enjoyed life.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mattie Bains; husband, George "Bud" Mitchell; sisters: Jane Long, Jean Most, and Nina Bains; and brothers: Frank and George Bains.

She is survived by her children: George H. Mitchell and wife, Ann of Big Cabin, Tom Mitchell and wife, Debbie of Chelsea, Myrna Denton of Chelsea, Margaret Meeks of Chelsea, Mildred Brooks of Chelsea, and Diane Mitchell of Chelsea; sister, Joyce Eden; brother, L.D. Bains; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
