Mary Elizabeath Roberson

Funeral service for Mary Roberson will be 10 a.m., Thurs., Sept. 22, at Trinity Baptist Church, Inola, with Pastor Rick Wilhour officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeten Cemetery under the direction of Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-7 p.m., and family will greet friends 5-7 p.m.

Mary went to be with the Lord on Sept. 19, 2011, at the age of 78.

The daughter of Ben and Verda Clements Shumake was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Dallas, TX. She was raised in Dallas in a Catholic girls home. As she grew older she moved to San Angelo, TX. There at a cafe she met Gerald Roberson. They were married January 19, 1952. A short time later they moved to Odessa where they began raising their family. Over the next several years she and her family moved a couple of times before again settling in Farmington, NM. After death of her husband, Mary eventually moved to Inola in the mid 1990's. She quickly became a part of the community. For several years she worked for Walmart. Driving to work early to get the deli and bakery ready to open. In 2007, she finally decided to retire at the age of 75. In her spare time she loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, go fishing and camping, and play solitaire on the computer. But most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and her parents.

Survivors include her children: Jimmy Don Cox of San Angelo, TX, Ben Roberson of Colorado Springs, CA, Kenneth Roberson of Inola, and Cindy Merryman and husband, Denny of Inola; grandchildren: Kendra Lawson and husband, Chris, Cassie Roberson, John Cox, Melissa Cox, Denna Merryman, Jesse Merryman and wife, Jennifer, Nick Merryman and wife, Ryan, and Brian Wethington; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Jessica, Madison, Zach, and Ella; and numerous other extended family.
