Funeral service for Mary Geneva Williams will be 11 a.m., Wed., March 17, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Chaplain Q.L. Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. A dinner will follow the graveside service at the Chelsea Civic Center. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will include Shannon Landrum, Michael Muska, David Redden, and Blake Redden.
Mary died Sat., March 13, 2010, at Claremore Nursing Home after a long illness at the age of 65.
The daughter of Jessie and Dora (Thomas) James was born Sept. 13, 1944, in Chelsea. Mary grew up in Chelsea, and attended Chelsea and Foyil schools. On Jan. 31, 1977, she married James Williams. Mary worked as a nurse at Claremore Regional Hospital in OB/GYN. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, visiting old friends, and making new friends. Mary always looked forward to James’ Family Reunions. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, arts and crafts, traveling, and playing bingo. Mary enjoyed going to the Chelsea Senior Citizens, and has been in the Claremore Nursing Home for the past 6 months.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wayne Woods; and siblings: Danny, Richard, and Jess James, Thelma Fick, Doris Hollaway, and Ida Williams.
She is survived by her husband, James Williams of the home; Children: James Williams, Jr. of Seattle, WA, and David Woods and wife, Tracy, Suzanne Redden and husband, David, Penni Gilliland and husband, Mike, and Jeanie Muska and husband, Michael all of Claremore; brothers: Melvin James of Oklahoma City, Ernie James of Grove, and Louis James of Pampa, TX; sister, Alta Ridenour of Vinita; sister-in-law, Geraldine James of Claremore; and grandchildren: Blake Redden, Jack Redden, Brandy Boren and husband, Andrew, Kaleena Powell and husband, John, Monica Bell, Jessie Landrum, Dylan Landrum, Shelby Landrum, Mackenzie Muska, and Mikey Muska.
