Funeral service for Melvin Lloyd Weast will be 10 a.m., Wed., at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Max Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeten Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-7 p.m.
Melvin died Mon., May 16, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 73.
The son of Buster William and Minnie Ruth (Gideon) Weast was born March 20, 1938, in Inola. As a youngster, Melvin worked for the Robson family at the ice plant in Claremore delivering ice. He attended elementary school in Tiawah, and graduated from Inola High School in 1957. He lived at the end of the bus route and was the first one on the bus each morning and the last one off each evening. So during his Junior and Senior years of high school, Melvin drove the school bus to school. Melvin worked as a security guard at Black Fox and later at Ernie Miller Pontiac. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, playing cards, listening to music, and going to the Inola Senior Citizen's Center. Melvin was a great marksman, and enjoyed hunting.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Weast; and sisters: Evelyn Wadsworth and Marie Chartier.
He is survived by his daughter, Janice Diel and husband, Tom of Inola; step-son, Herb Pelofski of Inola; brothers: Bill Weast and wife, Ann of Houston, TX, and Frank Weast and wife, Eunice of Inola; grandchildren: Leslie Adamson, Josh Diel and wife, Jessica, Crystal Roberts and husband, Steven, and Deuce Diel; great-grandchildren: Kelsey Diel, Kylee Diel, and Kaydance,Tristan, Sarah, and Kyrstin Roberts.
