A memorial service celebrating the life of John Michael “Mike” "Ryano" Ryan will be 2:00 p.m., Mon., Nov. 25, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Claremore, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Mike passed away on Wed., Nov. 20, 2013 at the age of 66.
Born in Claremore, OK on July 10, 1947 to John Michael and Jane (McElwain) Ryan, Mike was reared and educated in his birth community, graduating from Claremore High. Following his schooling he began his work career with North American. Later Mike became a police officer and served the Claremore community for about 8 years. His next employment was with Bosco Nuts and Bolts working as a sales representative. In the 1980’s Mike’s political career began with Rogers County Treasurer, finishing his father-in-laws term before being voted into office. Mike invented Ryan-O Dock Rollers and founded the company which he owned and operated on Grand Lake for the past 20 plus years.
Mike loved the outdoors spending time hunting, fishing and he loved his pets. His personality was contagious and he could become your friend at the first meeting. This served him well in his business adventures throughout the years.
Mike will be missed by all who knew him. Those family members that survive include his wife Helen Hunt of their home; his children Shelly Jones and husband Rick and John Michael “Mike” Ryan III and his wife Melissa of Collinsville; his grandchildren Tyler Jones and Mackenzie Jones, Logan and Jacob Shaw and John Michael “Mike” Ryan IV; his sister Sharlene Tacker. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Shirley.
