Mike Stickler

Memorial service for Charles Michael "Mike" Stickler will be 10 a.m., Mon., August 1, at Memorial Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Simpson officiating.

Mike passed away Wed., July 27, 2016, at St. John Hospital at the age of 72.

The son of Charles Howard Stickler and Selma (Anderson) Stickler was born July 1, 1944, in Moline, Illinois. He was raised in Danville, Illinois, and was active in the Boy Scouts, earning his Eagle Scout badge. Mike graduated from Danville High School in 1962, and from Lake View Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Danville, in 1969, earning an associate degree in nursing. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1970 and served for 9 years. During this time Mike met and married Roxanne Gurley in Montgomery, Alabama, in March, 1975. Upon separating from the Air Force at Scott AFB, Illinois, Mike and his family stayed in the area for 2 years before moving to New Orleans, La., in Nov., 1981. Mike became a civilian nurse with the US Army in Wuerzburg, Germany in Aug., 1990, for 3 years, traveling whenever possible. In August, 1993, Mike transferred to Indian Health Service at the Crownpoint, NM, Navajo reservation before moving to Claremore Indian Hospital in February, 1995. Mike retired from government service in Nov., 2001, then worked at Claremore Regional Hospital for several years. Mike was currently working for Claremore Nursing Home. When Mike wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with family, reading, traveling, and working puzzles, especially sudoku puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mike is survived by his wife of 41 years, Roxanne of the home; son, Michael Alexander Stickler and wife, Stacey of Claremore; sisters: Patricia Proctor of Ohio, and Carol Liebman of Israel; and grandchildren: Xhane Mullings, Christian Stickler, and Jenna Stickler.
