Memorial service for Mildred E. Scarbrough will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at Inola Funeral Home Chapel. Mildred passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2017. She was 86.
Born July 7, 1931 in Joshua, Texas to Thomas Watson and Lucy Elizabeth (Duncan) Creswell, Mildred received her education in Texas. She married James Stewart Scarbrough on August 6, 1950, and the couple made their home in Meridian, Mississippi. A job brought them to Oklahoma, and Tulsa was home for a time before the family moved to Inola, and this has been home since.
Mildred's first priority was her family, and she tended to their needs. She also worked at Hillcrest Hospital for 18 years as a baker. Mildred loved her church and was very involved through the years. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and buying and selling antiques. She had antique booths at Chouteau and Wagoner. Mildred loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband James, her sisters Evelyn Bullard and Freda Restivo.
Those family members that survive include her children Jimmy Wayne Scarbrough of Hooks, Texas, Dennis Lee Scarbrough and wife Misti Quinton Scarbrough of Inola, and Shari Diane Mullen and husband Cary of Muskogee; her grandchildren Erin Jordan and husband Bobby, Jason Scarbrough, James Scarbrough and wife Kim, Gary Don Scarbrough, Tristin Freeman and Dustin Hamner; her great granddaughter Ralyn Scarbrough; her brother Royce Creswell and wife Sylvia of Boise, Idaho, her sister Billie Griffin and husband Pete of Goodman, Missouri and her grand- dog May.
