A memorial service for Mitchell Norfleet will be 2:00p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Mitchell passed away at his home with his family by his side on Sunday, July 14, 2024. He was 65.
Mitchell Douglas Norfleet, born on May 10,1959, in Claremore, to Dorothy (Sumter) Norfleet and Doug Norfleet. He attended school at Claremore, graduating with the class of 1977. In his early career, Mitchell began by framing houses before transitioning to welding and fitting. He eventually retired as a CNC operator from Basden Steel. His dedication and commitment to his work were evident throughout his professional journey.
Beyond his professional and educational milestones, Mitchell's true essence shone through in his personality. He was known for his willingness to help anyone in need. His compassion extended to supporting individuals in overcoming their own struggles and addictions.
One of Mitchell's proudest accomplishments was overcoming his own battles. At the age of 40, on April 18, 1999, he embarked on a new chapter in his life that inspired those around him.
Outside of work and family life, Mitchell found solace in riding his Harley. The freedom of the open road allowed him to explore new places and forge connections with people from all walks of life. His adventurous spirit will be remembered fondly by those who knew him well.
Among those who mourn Mitchell's departure are surviving family members including his beloved wife Linda Norfleet, his children - Amy Dawn Bunch and her husband Bobby, Melissa Renee Collins and her husband Nation, Bruce Allen Norfleet, Gina Foster and her husband Chris, and Brandy Deseree Collins. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into his life. Mitchell is also survived by his sister Mary Pat Bowman and her husband Rick, along with his brothers Jeremy Denton and his wife Tammy and Donny Denton. Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Bump and father Doug Norfleet. He cherished the memories shared with them throughout the years.
Mitchell's impact on those around him will not be forgotten. His kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
