Funeral service for Mitzi Dwyer will be 11 a.m., Thurs., June 3, at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 5-7 p.m.
Mitzi died Sat., May 30, 2010, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 76.
The daughter of George and Wilhelmina (Blum) Hedrick was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Houston, TX. She graduated from Ennis High School, Ennis, TX, in 1950; and continued her education at North Texas State. On Aug. 15,1964, she married Charles "Buddy" Dwyer in Tulsa. Mitzi worked for Exxon Company as an executive secretary until the company moved to Texas. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and First Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of Home and Community Education (HCE) and received her 45 year member plaque this year. She won 2 state championships in the Wheatheart Division in Bread Making at the Oklahoma State Fair, and also won numerous times in the Rogers County Fair. Mitzi and Bud were members of the Good Sam's Travel Club, and enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Mitzi was a member of the board of Habitat for Humanity and served on the selection committee; and enjoyed playing bridge.
Mitzi is survived by her husband, Bud of the home; daughter, Karen Leaver of Claremore; granddaughters: Kari and Kelli Schwenning both of Claremore; brothers: George Hedrick and wife, Mary of Georgia, and Benny Hedrick and wife, Lila of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and several uncles.
