Graveside service for Mody Joe Ford will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Ward's Grove Cemetery. Mody passed away at Hillcrest Hospital, Claremore on Monday, April 3, 2017. He was 88 years old.
Born December 22, 1928 in Newkirk, Oklahoma to Fred and Marie Ford, Mody received his education in Pryor, graduating from Pryor High School. He then enlisted with the US Air Force and proudly served his country. While stationed in Cameron, Texas, he met Lila Mae Geick and the couple was married on June 12, 1952. They made their home first in Cameron and later moved to Oklahoma. Mody worked as a mechanic for American Airlines until his retirement.
Mody had several hobbies that included hunting and fishing. He enjoyed being outside and loved working on his tractors and riding horses. But most of all he loved his family.
Those family members that survive include his wife of 64 plus years, Lila; his son Alton Ford and daughter Tyla Spurlock, all of Foyil; his grandchildren James Spurlock of Pryor and Delilah Adams of Foyil; his great-grandchildren Alexis Spurlock, Laila Adams, Maddie Spurlock, Dayton Adams and Emaleigh Spurlock; and his sisters Donis Stout of Inola and Ruby Johnson of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Joe Ford, son-in-law Stanley Spurlock; brothers Johnny Ford, Ralph Ford and Curtis Ford; and his sisters Wilma, Edith Hoose, Martha and Zelia.
