Funeral service for Joyce Mondaine "Mondie" Cartwright will be 2 p.m., Fri., May 22, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m.
Mondie passed away Sun., May 10, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital at the age of 69 after a tough battle with cancer and COPD.
The daughter of Delmar Claid Weger and Clara Ruth (Dunlap) Weger was born July 16, 1945, in Flat Rock, IL. On Aug. 6, 1987, she married Michael Karl Cartwright in Claremore. All her life she loved animals and was in the dog grooming business for years. She had a horse named Shaleak that thought it was a dog. At home it would walk behind her and go everwhere she did. Over the years she had many dogs, cats, birds and even a frog. She loved westerns on TV and when she got the name "Cartwright" she watched many Bonanza shows. She enjoyed helping her husband with his popcorn truck for many years at the Pawnee Steam Engine Show and gave a lot of popcorn away for free. She also enjoyed going to the casinos and playing slot machines.
Mondie was preceded in death by son, Matt Robertson.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Cartwright; children: Mindie Robertson, Julie Robertson, Michele Robertson, Amy Cartwright Fishback and husband, Ray, and Jeff Cartwright and wife, Tanyia; sister, Doris Stahelin and husband, Fred; brother, Lynn Weger and wife, Jo; sister-in-law, Vandelia Graham and husband, George; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
