Nancy Claudette Hopkins passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at her home with family by her side. She was 67.
Born August 13, 1949 in Vian, Oklahoma to Claud and Ola (Craghead) Ballard, Nancy received her education in Vian. Following her high school years, she continued her education by attending Claremore Junior College, and later Northeastern State University, graduating in May of 1985 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. While at Northeastern, she was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Sorority.
On September 19, 1975, she married Clarence David Hopkins at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Wynnewood, and together they raised four children. Home has been in Claremore since 1978. Nancy was a teacher, a financial secretary, and a para for gifted students, but the most important role in her life was wife and mother. Her talents were many; she was a wonderful cook, she loved to be outside working in the garden and even enjoyed mowing. She also loved music and playing the piano.
Those family members that survive include her husband David of their home, her children Jeff Hopkins and wife Kristi, Annette Carson all of Claremore, Joe Hopkins and wife Kimberly of Sacramento, California, Sandra Saunders of Spokane, Washington, Marty Hopkins and wife Karra of Pryor, Debra Johnson and husband David of Olympia, Washington and Kimberly Jost and husband Ronnie of Claremore; her grandchildren Tucker, Stormi, Montana, Coby, Bryson, Laney, Christopher, Nicholas, Rebecca, Melissa, Joseph, Jackson, Steven, Kayla, Jeffrey, Whitney, Baylee, Johnny, Hayden, Karli, Breanna, Grady, Brenden, Ethyn and Talon; her great-grandchildren David, Dannie, Callan, Dawn, William, Liliana, Aubriana, Tailynn and Bentley; four sisters and one brother.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and sister Loretta Mattingly.
