Funeral service for Nancy Marie Kincade VanMeter will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the First Christian Church of Claremore. Pastor Charles Ragland will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Nancy passed away Monday, June 14, 2010, in Claremore at the age of 64.
The daughter of Ernest L. "Jimmy" and Emma Bigknife Kincade was born August 14, 1945 in Vinita, Oklahoma. At the age of 1 she and her family moved to Claremore. She attended Claremore schools graduating with the class of 1963. After graduating she began working as a bookkeeper. She worked in Arizona, Wichita, Kansas and later in the Tulsa area. While working in Tulsa she met Ronald VanMeter. A short time later they were married. For the next several years she continued working. Mostly as a bookkeeper for an oil distribution center. She worked until her health forced her into retirement. In 2004 she moved to the Claremore area to be near her family. In her spare time Nancy enjoyed shopping, fishing, and collecting bears.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents, Ernest and Emma Kincade; brother, John Kincade; and sister, Arma Buchanan.
Survivors include her sisters, Mary Jane Fry and husband, Victor A. of Claremore, Earnestine Hayes and husband, Tom of Claremore, and Helen Mersch of Claremore; step-daughters, Rhonda of Broken Arrow, Rusty of Seminole and Ronnie of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
