Nora Jane Egleston

December 29, 1927 — April 17, 2020

Nora Jane (Dikeman) Egleston, 92, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, April, 17, 2020.
Nora Jane (aka Jane) was born December 29, 1927 in Talala, Oklahoma to parents William Caleb "Bill" Bright Dikeman and Nora Evelyn Smart Dikeman at their farm west of Talala. Jane attended the First Christian Church of Talala and was baptized in the Verdigris River east of town. She attended Talala Public School and graduated in 1946. Jane joined the Talala American Legion Auxiliary when two of her brothers went off to fight in WWII.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce M. Egleston on Feb. 21, 2006, as well as by her parents, Nora E in 1967 and Bill in 1978. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin of Claremore, Cale of Talala, and John of Nowata, and four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Ricotta of Houston, TX, Mrs. Flora Kauffman of Willis, TX, Miss Billie "Bea" Dikeman of Nederland, TX, and Mrs. Pearl Youngman of Fullerton, CA.
Jane and her husband traveled all over the U.S., Canada, and Alaska many times. One never knew what stories they would tell and what they would come home with in the loaded down van. Usually they traveled with sisters, Bea and Flora, and brother in law, Gene Kauffman.
Jane loved and lived for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Many weekends and holidays were filled with family gatherings at the home. Mom also loved her flowers, gospel and country music, including Willie Nelson. By being consistent voters, Jane and her husband Bruce taught their children the importance of voting. As an avid reader, Jane instilled a love of reading in her children by walking them to the Will Rogers Library at least once a week to check out books. She continued to read four different newspapers until she passed. She was the best mother and grandmother anyone could wish for.
Jane is survived by her five children: Terry Egleston and wife Melody of Claremore, Sharon Kay Egleston of Claremore, Karen Adamson and her husband Mark of Claremore, Clay M. Egleston and wife Sharon Sue of Claremore, and Danny Egleston and wife Kim of Catoosa. Jane has 31 grandchildren including: Dr. Tera Egleston, Peyton Egleston, Chad Dowling, Nichole Dickover, Bruce W. Egleston, Shawn Kehler, John Michael Means, Ethan Egleston, Trent Egleston, Jason Downey, Stacy Rodriguez, Cheri Sansom, Amanda Dowell and Ryan Seamans. She also has 31 great-grand children.
All of those who knew her were touched by her demonstrations of love, kindness, self-sacrifice, and generous heart. Jane's grandchildren would tell her and write notes to her that said "I love you to the moon and back." She then started telling her children and grandchildren "I love you to the moon and back." Today, we now all tell her, "We love you to the moon and back!"
