Norma Jean Martens

Funeral service for Norma Jean Martens will be 2 p.m., Fri., Feb. 7, at the Inola Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Norma passed away Tues., Jan. 28, 2014, at the age of 82.

The daughter of Emmett Harmon and Zelpha Medlock Williams was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Inola. Norma was the oldest child and helped take care of the family. She graduated from Inola High School in 1950, and moved to Whittier, CA, to follow her dreams. On Aug. 7, 1971, Norma married Gus Martens in Las Vegas. Norma was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home and especially loved her kitties and hummingbirds. She enjoyed baking for her family and neighbors. She enjoyed doing crafts, making beautiful photo albums and even dolls. She always enjoyed entertaining her friends in her home. Norma was somewhat of a perfectionist with her home, always taking great care of her home and yard.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Don and Stephen Harmon.

She is survived by her husband, Gus of the home; son, Michael E. Bingham of Hackett, AR; daughter, Nancy Bingham Case and husband, Jim of Tulsa; brothers: James Harmon of Inola, and Bobby Williams of Owasso; sisters: Vicki Allen of McAlester, Susan VanHouten of Mart, TX, Bonnie Claxton of Coweta, and Pat Rogers of Tulsa; 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
